Terms and Conditions

  1. Employees working at Dundonald House and Castle Buildings at Stormont Estate are invited to participate in the PAL scheme.
  2. You must read and confirm that you have read the Participant Information Sheet carefully prior to agreeing to take part in the PAL scheme. Failure to do so will mean that you will not be able to take part in the scheme. If you have any questions please Contact Us and we will answer any queries you may have.
  3. You must provide us with your consent to participate in this scheme by signing the Consent Form. Failure to do so will mean that you are exempt from taking part in the scheme.
  4. If you wish to take part, you must provide us with some information about yourself so that we can assess if you are eligible to take part. This is done by simply answering a few questions via the website.
  5. Once we have checked that you are eligible to participate, you have confirmed that you have read the Participant Information Sheet and have completed the Consent Form, we will issue you with your PAL card. This card will be registered onto the scheme in your name. Only one PAL card will be issued per registered person unless the card is lost or stolen in which case a replacement card may be issued. Only one replacement card will be issued per participant.
  6. The PAL card remains the property of Queen's University Belfast.
  7. The PAL cards are not transferable which means that the card can only be used by the person to whom it was originally issued.
  8. The designated sensors are placed at 6 locations around Stormont Estate (see maps). Physical activity is registered by walking/running along the designated routes, or using the gym/exercise class and swiping your registered PAL card at the nominated points. If a participant fails to swipe his/her PAL card at the designated sensors then this bout of physical activity will not be tracked and therefore will not appear on your account. Only physical activity undertaken using the PAL card and designated sensors will count.
  9. Rewards will be given to those participants randomly allocated to Group A only. Rewards will be given to Group A participants on behalf of the PAL scheme within 30 days of the date the participant claimed the reward.
  10. The issuing of rewards is subject to availability. Restrictions will be placed on the maximum number of each reward participants can choose.
  11. The PAL scheme will be closely monitored for instances of fraud or misusance. Queen's University Belfast reserves the right to disqualify or withdraw a participant from the scheme if they are deemed to be misusing the scheme, the participant is in breach of these terms and conditions or if there are otherwise reasonable grounds.
  12. Queen's University Belfast reserves the right to terminate the scheme at anytime.
  13. All personal data provided by each participant will be held in accordance with the Data Protection Act (1998). This is outlined in the Participant Information Sheet and the Consent Form. All data will be held securely and will not be passed onto any third party or your employer. Participants will not be named individually in any publication.
  14. Participation is voluntary and you are free to withdraw at any time, without giving any reason, without your medical care or legal rights being affected.
  15. Queen's University Belfast reserve the right to amend these rules and any updates will be posted on the PAL scheme website.
