Who we are

Research has shown that being more physically active can greatly improve your health and wellbeing. Here at the Centre for Public Health at Queen's University Belfast we want to find out what are the best ways of encouraging people to be more active and make it fun.

We know fitting some activity into your day isn’t easy as we are all really busy, so we have provided you with the tools and information to help get you on the move!

Do you know how far you need to walk to burn off your lunch?

Do you know how long it takes you to walk 1 mile?

Well, you can find out all the answers to these questions by joining the PAL scheme. Simply swipe your PAL card at sensors placed around Stormont Estate when you go for a walk or run and it will keep track of your physical activity. You can find out how far you have walked/run, how long it took you and how many calories you burned off. It couldn't be easier. You can also use your PAL card when you go to the gym or an exercise class based at the Activ Health Club.
